When I first started an internet business 10 years ago, I never understood what the internet and all the benefits it had.  I used the internet to purely put my business online as a brochure (take a look at my site videosurfing built nearly 8 years ago!!).  Yes, it was a pretty crowded and funky site, but people loved it - once I told them where it was and gave them the address! Not quite your affiliate marketing formula.

That business is still running, (and all that I learned in Affiliate Marketing helped it to get to page one on GOOGLE)  but affiliate work is so much less consuming and takes far less employees to manage - I had to ship this product after manufacturing it and then deal with service, returns - the whole nine yards. And, the economy changed my entire business model. Not many people could afford the $7k we we charging for the electronic systems anymore. 

The perfect business model for the recession was all about economical entertainment and cheaper services and products.  Thus affiliate marketing.
